Meeniyan Community Hub
The Meeniyan Community Hub is a pleasant space for community groups to gather, hold meetings, learn new skills and celebrate local activities.
Community Hub History
In the past, number 95 Whitelaw Street Meeniyan was an Infant Welfare Centre that provided important support for expectant and new mothers and their babies. The centre building has also been used by local RSL and other community groups. It is now the site of a new Community Hub that has been funded through the South Gippsland Council’s Capital Works Program and the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program. The Hub opened in 2025.
The new facility provides a pleasant public open space with a meeting / activity space that includes a kitchenette and an open and informal garden and seating area. Public toilets are nearby. The Hub is in the centre of town, close to cafes and shops and next door to the Meeniyan Hall. It features a sustainable design including the use of an environmentally friendly material called Hempcrete.
Community Hub Asset Management
The Hub is managed by a voluntary group, the Meeniyan Hub Asset Management Committee. We encourage community groups and corporate organisations to take advantage of the new facility and enjoy meeting in these comfortable and central surroundings.
The Meeniyan Community Asset Committee meets regularly. If you would like to get in touch please use the form below. For official documents on the Hub management arrangements click here .
