Starlink Is Here

Meeniyan Progress Association(MPA) are pleased to advise the Meeniyan Community that a Starlink connection has been installed at the Meeniyan CFA Station for use in case of emergencies. The connection will be available for public use when internet connection is not available through the regular network. The Starlink connection is on standby and can be activated by several MPA representatives when required. The facility can be used by members of the community from either inside the CFA station (when it is open to the public) or from the carparks adjacent to the CFA station and the basketball stadium. The facility allows for mobile phone and internet usage -checking and sending emails and making phone calls. There is some security hardware installed with the connection that prevents hacking of emails and excessive downloads (movies etc). In times of power outages (as well as internet outages) the CFA can turn on their generator and keep the Starlink connection live.

MPA have funded the hardware and on-going costs. The installation was generously donated by Starlink Install Gippsland (Cohen Lewis) who did a great job. Also, a big thank you to the Meeniyan CFA for hosting the facility.
