Following the formal speeches from Mary 

Aldred MP, Danny O’Brien, leader of the Victorian National Party and Mayor 

John Schelling, the highlight of the occasion was the official cutting of the 

ribbon made by all of the children from Meeniyan kinder. Each child was 

represented by a cut-out of themselves. The Stony Six provided musical 

entertainment [see photo] and the Meeniyan Red Cross provided a delicious 

lunch for all. Photo shows left to right Danny O’Brien, Mayor John Schelling, 

SGS CEO Allison Jones, Mary Aldred MP, Councillor Scott Rae and 

Councillor Bron Beach.
