PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

The school has experienced a period of change during Term 3 and we thank our school community for the patience and kindness they demonstrated. It is our continuing goal to improve communication channels, so, from early Term 4, the school will open a Facebook page to help share information, news and photos from the school’s day to day operations.

We bid farewell to Ms Bush who has been working 2 days per week in 56BD but we wish her all the best in her new venture. Replacing her will be Andrew Murray who many from the community will already know, as his partner Jess runs the dance studio down at the Rec.

Year 5/6 Jewish Excursion

On Thursday the 7th of September the 5/6 students visited a Jewish school in Caulfield, Melbourne. The name of the school being Leibler Yavneh College which is the school their pen-pals attended.

The Meeniyan students learnt of the many customs of orthodox Jews and where intrigued by their history and culture.

Before arriving at the school, the students were made to endure a two-and-a-half-hour bus ride before arriving at a Jewish museum where they learnt about Jewish holidays and customs. They then went to the Synagogue. Then finally they arrived at the school to meet their Jewish pen-pals. The students had a blast and engaged in many social activities before finally bidding their pen-pals farewell. Two and a half hours later they were back home and chatting their heads off about their fantastic day. – James N

On Thursday the 7th of September, Grade 5/6 set off to Melbourne to learn about Jewish culture and meet their pen pals. Once they had survived the big trek up they headed to the Jewish museum to learn about traditions and culture. After that they went to a Synagogue, which is a place where the Jewish people go and pray. There, they learnt a bit more about a Synagogue and got to hear a horn being blown. After that they stopped by a park to have a snack and a play. Once they had gotten all their energy out 5/6 hoped back on the bus to go to Leibler Yavneh school to finally meet their pen pals. Grade 5/6 got a tour of their MASSSIVE school then played a big game of dodgeball. Then the Leibler Yavneh students and teachers gave Meeniyan Primary school a book and Meeniyan gave Yavneh a plant we all said our good byes and headed back on the bus back home. – Winnie
